We are owned and operated by Colleen McClean, a red seal chef, who learned how to bake during the various stages of her life and career. Most recently she taught Culinary and Baking and Pastry classes at LaSalle College in Vancouver. She moved to Powell River specifically to open Hearth & Grain, but didn’t realize that she would fall in love with the community, its people and its beauty. Her recipes have been developed over years of research of sourdough production as well as years of eating her grandmother’s cookies.
Hearth & Grain was developed in order to fulfill a need in Powell River, but the new goal is to become a community meeting place known for quality, integrity and delicious things. We hope you enjoy our products as much as we like making them.
